GOLF:

St. Andrews - New Course

ST. ANDREWS - NEW COURSE

Enjoy a round on the New Course at St. Andrews, which was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1894. At 6,604 yards, many locals consider this par-71 layout as tough a test as the Old Course itself. The best holes are at the turn, meandering through some of St. Andrews' largest dunes.

Please note: To play the Old Course, you also have to play one of the other courses in St. Andrews.

FAIRMONT ST. ANDREWS (Fairmont Room)

WEDNESDAY

GOLF:

St. Andrews - Old Course

ST. ANDREWS - OLD COURSE

Golf today will be on hallowed ground as you'll play the Old Course at St. Andrews. The Old Course was site of the 2005 Open, which saw Tiger Woods capture his second Open Championship on the Old Course. It was the 27th time that St. Andrews has hosted the Open. Walking up the 18th fairway toward the "Valley of Sin" and the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse is a thrill that every avid golfer should experience.

Please note: Tee times here can be difficult to arrange in advance; please see itinerary notes. Also, the Old Course has handicap restrictions of 24 or lower for men and 36 or lower for women.

Depart St. Andrews this afternoon and travel west to Troon (2 hours 45 minutes).

ACCOMMODATION:

Lochgreen House

LOCHGREEN HOUSE, TROON (Deluxe Room)

In the seaside town of Troon you'll find the Lochgreen House, set in its own grounds just off the Ayr/Prestwick Road. Built in 1905 by a Glasgow lawyer, this impressive house sits on 16 acres in the heart of Ayrshire's Burns Country. Lived in by several notable families, Lochgreen has been fully restored to a deluxe country house hotel. Oak panels are featured strongly throughout the hotel with the finest examples being the magnificent entrance hall and the main restaurant. In addition, the hotel restaurant is well known for having excellent food and service.

THURSDAY

GOLF:

Royal Troon

ROYAL TROON

This prestigious club came to be in 1878, when twenty-three members from Prestwick went their own way and built this splendid links course. Today it is one of the great Open venues, favoured for its quirky greens and long holes that can make for low scoring or quite the opposite. Troon has the longest and shortest holes of all the Open venues: the 577-yard sixth hole and the 126-yard eighth hole - called ?the Postage Stamp' because of its tiny green. Miss a green at Troon and, quite simply, you drop a shot. Troon is surely one of the world's great golfing shrines.

Please note: Visitor tee times are Monday, Tuesday & Thursday only. Also, handicap restrictions of 20 or lower for men and 30 or lower for women.

ACCOMMODATION:

LOCHGREEN HOUSE, TROON (Deluxe Room)

It is often used as a qualifying course when the British Open is at Turnberry or Troon and has played host to many other events including the Curtis Cup and the Scottish Amateur Championship. Like its neighbors at Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry, the course offers outstanding panoramic views of the Ailsa Craig and Firth of Clyde.

Special Note: The green fee also includes lunch in the clubhouse on weekdays.

TEE TIMES AT ST. ANDREWS:

Unless a tee time has been reserved and announced in advance, tee times at St. Andrews are arranged through "the ballot" two days before play. At that time, a representative will advise you of the status of your tee time. At Golfpac, we realize how important playing golf at St. Andrews is to most groups. Over the past few years, tee times have become harder to guarantee on the Old Course, but we feel our success rate is second to none.

Important Note: Certain tee times for St. Andrews carry a #70 (British Pounds) supplement which would be added to the final invoice. This fee is reimbursed in the form of a voucher, which is good for merchandise and food in the St. Andrews Links Clubhouse.
